Our Last Blog for 13-14 School Year

Welcome to our last blog entry for this school year.  It's hard to believe that our year is almost over.  We've accomplished a lot of different things this year ranging from functional academics, learning more about ourselves through Self Determination, life skills, social skills and work experience.  Come check out what we've been up to since our last entry.

Riefel Bird Sanctuary

Last Friday, I went to the Riefel Bird Sanctuary with my Bases class. We went by car and I went with Ms. Flanagan, Mrs. Dosanj and Nolan. We drove through Ladner to get there. When we reached our destination the parking lot was filled with ducks and birds. We stayed in our groups and walked through the trails. I went to the tower with Sukhjit , Asma and Aman. While we were walking the trails, we saw bird houses on top of the trees. I fed the birds with bird seeds that we brought with us. At the end of the day we drove to McDonalds for ice cream. It was a lot of fun!   By Jeena

I'm hungry!

Playland:  Here's what one of the kids had to say about their trip:

Yesterday I went to Playland with some of the Bases students and teachers. We took the school bus. It took us an hour to get there. When we got there, there were different schools at Playland. We got divided into groups; I was with Ms. Repin, Ms. Ringham, Raheel, Ellen and Jayden. The first ride I went on was the Corkscrew with Ellen and Ms. Repin. I was laughing a lot while I was on the ride. The second ride I went on was the Scrambler; it was a blast. At lunch we sat on a picnic table and ate hot-dogs, chips and coke, it was the best. My last ride was the roller coaster with Ellen and Ms. Ringham. At the end of the day we got ice-cream sandwiches and our fun day at Playland was over. We got back on the bus and headed back to school!

"I'm not afraid... I'm not afraid... I'm not... HEELLLPPPP!"

" Look mom... no hands!"

Stanley Park:  Last week the gang visited the Vancouver Police Mounted Squad located at Stanley Park.  Here's what we saw:

"Take a shower they said... It would be fun they said..."

Hello April

In this edition we talked to the Athletics Department, the Boy's Rugby Team, the school England trip and a 1-to-1 with Monica.  Before we get started with our video interviews here's what some of the kids had to say about Spring Break:

My Spring Break.

During Spring break, I went to the White Rock beach with my cousins and their friends.  Originally, we were going to go to Toronto but decided against the idea due to bad weather. We also moved to Langley during the break.  I also went to Willowbrook Mall to shop for new clothes. Overall it was a fun Spring break!

During Spring Break I slept in until 2:00 every day. On Friday, I went swimming in the afternoon with my brother. The next day I got sick with a cold and couldn't do anything else because I was sick.  My favourite part about Spring Break was not having to come to school for two weeks.

Spring Break – By Kat

During Spring Break my parents went on vacation without me and my brother. My grandparents ended up taking care of us. On some days Alisha would come over or we would talk on the phone for 5 hours. We would talk about boys then have our own dance party.  Sometimes grandma would make me cookies. We also baked a cake before walking the dogs. On some days when I had nothing to do I played on my iPad and help my grandparents. I also turned 19yrs old during Spring Break!

Spring Break by Naima

On Spring Break, I went to Victoria with my Religious Class. Before getting on the ferry I hung out with my two classmates Suman and Sabreena. We also stayed in a hotel and I shared a room with three other girls. The next day my classmates and I went on a scavenger hunt. We had to find certain shops! That afternoon I had A&W for lunch before having pizza for dinner. On the third day we visited the Legislature and the Provincial Museum.

Did you know that a school group went to London, England during Spring Break?  Here's what they had to say:

Thanks Harleen for sharing with us!

We also visited the Athletic Department and sat down with Mr. Davis and Neufeld.  Here's what our Athletic Director's had to report about sports at school:

Did you know that we have a Rugby Team?  Tyler and Hamza sat down with Jose, a member of the team.  Here's the link to their candid discussion:

School Scene:  hope you enjoy some of our photos of what's happening around school:
