Students Speak: My Winter Break

On my winter Break, I went to my cousins house with my cousins.  I went to the theatre on Wednesday with my cousins.  On Christmas I got ipod case and chocolate and headphones and necks.  I went with my cousin together.  She was a good driver.

I went to Walmart with my cousin and I stayed Home.

I went to buy a $200 Toshiba HD 19 Inch TV and 3 New PS3 Games Gran Turismo 5, MLB 2K10 and NBA and waiting for 2 more games NHL 11 and Madden 11. I also got $100 for Christmas spend it on the PS3 Games.  Also my cousin Marvin from Sydney Australia. And my Uncle Jay from Ridgewood NJ show up and the New Years Eve party got cancelled because of the weather. I also went to my program for Job Readyness. I went to Willowbrook Mall for Eating and Browsing and the bus ride was fun and some return from a 2 Month Vacation Askar return on the last day before Schools back and the Rangers 3 and the Flyers 2 in Philly in Citizens Bank Park in the the NHL Winter Classic of 2012.

During the break I went for a sleep over at Granma’s.  We went for a long walk to the mall.  We also went for coffee and juice.

I stayed home spent time with family.  I slept in everyday I watched a lot of Christmas movies on tv.  I watched Home Alone 1, home alone 2, I had a nice family dinner.  I went on the computer.  I played games on the computer.  I went for a nice car ride and I watched the fireworks on New Year Day and I had hot chocolate with cookies on.  On Christmas day over the break I helped with the house chores I cleaned the house I had the best time ever. My New’s resolution is to exercise and eat healty.

On Friday December 16, my dad went to a tournament so there’s mom, riley and me!  My dad came back from the tournament.  Then we cleaned up so that someone is coming.  On Wednesday, I went to the computer looking at the photos, did Tiny Toons Adventures, Happy holidays.  It was completed just in time, I did 2 on them.  On Thursdays, I completed Wanda, the January 2012 issue.  On Friday, baba, riley and I went shopping .  On Saturday December 24 on Christmas eve, I went to bed very early! On Sunday December 25, I riley opened up gifts.  Later on, It was Baba’s Birthday after this, I watched the Grinch on ABC, Tim Carrey is so funny to everyone But not for me!  On Monday December 26, I went to value village to buy books and videos!  On Thursday, uncle Blair and aunt Sonia everyone came over.  On Fridays went to see riley’s tournament.  On Saturday, December 31, I went to Riley’s tournament again after this I went on the computer to finda  new photo.  For dinner, I had Dominos pizza!  I did Tiny Toon Adventures Happy New Year I did C on them!  It was completed just in time Riley tournament at 9AM, another game at 5pm.

Lunch at Ricky's

On Thursday December 8 Ms. Fuller and Mr. Stroh took the BASES class out for lunch at Ricky's.  These are their memories of the day

We went to rickeys on Dec.8/2011 at 11:15am. I got a ride with Mrs. Fuller in her Honda civic we heard a saleena Gomez song.  At the restaurant sat beside Miss Dolan. I ordered a cheese pizza and orange pop. I got the Bill around $18.91. I got my chang $1.45. The food was delicious. The food was very good I like the restaurant I might visit the restaurant.

I ate a hamburger with fries and a Drink When we came Back I worked on the Christmas package and I went yesterday with Ms. R then watched 2 movies in the Room next door and I went home.

On Thursday In the morning we were on our way to Ricky’s. I went in Mr. Stroh’s car.  At Ricky’s I had Ginger chicken and It costs $9.99 for the smaller bowl. I drank rootbeer and that costs $2.89. The total costs is $14.43. I sat with jasmine, Katarina and Alisha and a while after Ms. Chedchoy sat with us. I enjoyed my food and if I go back to Ricky’s I would have that dish again.

Me and Brandon went for a long Drive we saw a river over the BriDge then to Ricky’s we raced to the restaurant Before we got are food I speak to my firdens then I ate some salad chicken and fires I ate so fast then my tummy was full then have a Big Bowl of fruit with a coundle so I ate the fruit and the restaurant was FUN

Christmas is coming!

Christmas is just around the corner - only 31 more days! (and 3 weeks of school) to go!  So we asked the students about their favourite christmas gifts of the past, and their christmas wishes for this year.

• Ellen:  Favourite Christmas gift I ever recieved is a pandora charm.  One thing I want for Christmas this year is Justin Biebers book and a wibkinz clothes and a webkin manatee and Dog clothes for my Dog sox.
• Alisha:  my best gift ever was a doll.  This year i want a bear.
• Nolan:  My favourite present is lego because i like lego!  There some old ones and new ones as well!  I like atlantic, avatar, bricks, batman city, exo-forces, island extreme stunts, indiana jones, sports, star wars, harry potter, town world city, aquazone, racers, castle, space, oreninet expedition adventures, trains, creators, and minifigs.  That's m best for christmas this year.  The end!
• Katarina:  I want for Christmas is a white Christmas and I also want just Dance 3 because I love the game and I have just dance 2 last year.  I don't have a best gift because I don't care about best gift.
• Shiv: Well last year I did get some clothes from Marvin in Syney Australia my cousin.  Thats all i have Remember.  And this years Christmas I know one thing my bedroom at my mothers is crummy and my curtis TV had stop working for the past 6 months so I know I have a new PS3 with one game need for speed hot pursuit 2010 version but I will get more games and a new TV and Marvin is coming for a Vacation in Canada and also my Uncle from New Jersey is coming and last An Amtrack 40th anniversary DVD + Amtrak tickets to New York City to visit Uncle in Spring Break.
• Brandon: the best Christmas gift I have ever recieved is video game ps2 psp on fighting game is cirtua fighter 4 and tekken dark resurection on stage it is mortal kombat armegeggen ultimate warrior.  I like Final stage 2 ground zero.  I want to stage heaven's gate twist or scream stalking wolves of austria penguin night blue skys stars and forest moon situation.
• Raheel:  the best Christmas gift i ever recieved was the Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian dvd and the red hoody sweater.  I got both of them on Christmas.  For Christmas this year I want a bluray dvd player.

Students Speak: What would you do if there were a snow day tomorrow?

This morning for journal writing I posed the question "What would you do if there were a snow day tomorrow?"  Now as I am at home typing up their response I am glancing our the window at the snow on the ground...

• Hamza - I will stay home watch movies play games.  I will Go outside and make snow-angles.  I will do snow fights.  Get good nap.  Enjoy my fantastic day.
• Raheel - I would go outside and play with the snow and make a awesome snowman and I would have snowball fight and I would stay home and have hot chocolate.
• Jayden - I would sleep in and play Video games, and go on the computer and I could go skating and swimming Then I will go to my cousins house and play and go home and stay up till midnight and have fun.
• Shiv - I would Sleep In until 12:00PM and do my Afternoon Routine a Bus Ride to my favourite Destination And Get Snow Tires for my 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix.  And Oh you know if I'm snowed-in I would Shovel my Driveway and maybe make a snowman and invited my friends for a game SnowBall Wars Build a fort with snow and make SnowBalls.  And last make fresh IceCream made of Snow and thats it.
• Jeena - If it was a snowy day tomorrow I would have stayed home and and have a hot cup on Hot Chocolate.  I do not like snow that much because it is wet, too cold (might get sick form it) and snow should be on the mountains so you can go skiing.  I hope snow does not come.
• Janelle - If tomorrow was a snow day I would hang out with my friends and go sledding and build a snowman.  I would be glad if there was no school so I could have a whole day of playing in the snow until it melts.
• Melanie - 1.  school would be closed  2.  I would play in the snow  3.  I would play all alone

Students Speak: What would it be like if the streets were rivers?

Alisha:  I would take a boat to see me neighbour and be able to swim to school
Fatima:  I will swim to school every day.  It will be cool because you will be living with fish and talk with them.  Life will be little different because in water you can not have car or cellphone
Nolan:  If the streets look like swimming pools then YEAH!  The streets are like swimming pools!  it has a waterslife and 3 diving boards and also kids are little, can go to the kiddie pool.  And holds up water for 65 years.  mins is the swimming pool.
Raheel: If the streets would turn to water I would swim in it and I slide on it.  if there were rivers instead of streets I would feel happy.
Katarina:  I would buy rain boots and rain coat and I will go to my house and Build a fast boat so I won't have to swim, only when I my boat is not working right, That's why I would Buy a rain boots if I ant to walk in the river and rain cost is for fun and I won't be shopping for any wet stuff unless it's raining very hard and my house will be all wet inside
Ellen:  I would like to hang out with Justin Bieber.  we swim Down the Streets were flood.  So we dive down and have fun.

Students Speak: My Favourite Teachers...

So today in class we asked the students to journal about their favourite teacher and why for this weeks edition of "Students Speak."  These are some of the responses we received:

Katarina:  "My first favorite teacher is Ms. Yahn because She helps me tot he Dance at the cross of the floor.  My second favorite teacher is Mrs. Barry because she tells me my project is good or not.  My third favorite teacher is Mrs. Fuller because she makes me what to help her in block 1.  My forth favorite teacher is Jennelle [our peer tutor] because She is funny and help helps me on my french work.  My fiffit favorite teachers is Ms Beacker and Mr Stroh becuse we watch movies every friday"

Gagan:  "Mr Stroh is funny teacher because he fun to teacher.  Mr Neufeld is funny teacher and cool.  Mr Ranu he is cool and funny hang out with sens September 2011.  Mis backer funny and tired Mis fuller She funny and cool."

Jeena: "My favorite teacher is Mr Stroh because he's cool, fun, great, funny, bestest teacher in Sullivan Heights.  My favorite teacher is Mrs. Fuller because She's makes me laugh like crazy, she's really fun, cool, amazing, great and funny.  I think Ms. fuller is the best teacher in the school."

Ellen "My favorite teacher is mr Stroh because to call him Mr. Stroh can't Dance and bok bok Chicken.  My fave teacher is ms Yahn Because she is fun fun fun.  My fave teacher is Ms. barry because she is awsome.  My fave teacher is Mr. neufled because i call him taylor Swift."

Raheel "My favourite teacher is Mr. Stroh he is nice and friendly and helpful.  And my last favourite teacher is Mr Neufeld he is funny and always making people laught and he is a nice teacher."

Nolan "My favourite teacher is Mrs. Painchaud because she's the nice and the bad lady.  Nice is for good kids.  Non-nice is for bad kids.  She always do computer info on kids as well.  She always do ideos about cyber-bullying and treating as well.  And certainly she always be there for first-class."

Brandon "My favourite teacher is mrs blackwell and mrs. doolan and mr neufled is funny."

Shiv "favourite teacher:
1.  Mr Stroh:  he is funny and fun to hang out with
2.  Mr. Dewinetz: he is AWWWWESOMMMEE!...Best Buddies in and out of BASES.

Thanks to the kids for sharing!  We are lucky to have so many great teachers in the school!  And I would agree with Shiv, many of them are AWWWWESOMMMEE!!!

Students Speak: If you were principal for a day....

In Journals this week, students were asked "What would you do if you were Principal for a day?"  Here is what they said (word for word):

Maryam:  i would watch the canucks games in school and go to playland every year.  We would go outside every day and have early dismissal at 12:00pm.  If i was the principal i would give everyone an iPad2.  

Gagan:  If I am vice principal of this school we taking care for student.  we said no smoking student about in school.  we help student I give you school schedule brake time.  we makeing good rules for only student, we giveing other class Math, science, socials studies all class.  If need question ask Mis Fuller She is principal.

Jeena: I would give the students a huge Party at school and go to Los Angeles, Hollywood.  We all would go to Selena Gomez's concert and hang out with Nickelodeon stars like Big time Rush, ICarly and victorious.

Jasmine: I would let the kids be in a Free wolrd I would be the best techer I would let em eat Gum and Candy and stuff....

Raheel: If I were the principal of this school I would make school easy and fun and the sport activities that I would have would be basketball, football, soccer, badminton.

Sukhjit: I will make a school short day's I would arrange more game

Brandon:  if I were Principal of this school I would Play hockey with the kids Five boys Brandon nolan Muhammed raheel and Shiv is mr Stroh and mrs becker six girls For game basketball ellen melanie Jasine Katarina Janelle alisha

Hamza: If I were the principal of this schooL.  I would play Basket ball with P.E. class.  I would change school schedule.  The school will start at 8:15 to 2:00pm.  Lunch 10:00am.

Katarina:  If I were the Principal of this school I would walk with the whole school to tim hortens.  Then 1 Person will get a free Lunch and the person'a friends will get a free Lunch too.  When the hockey game is on the whole school will stop working and watch the hockey game where hockey is.  They will have winter break until it's February and they will have spring break until  May.  The whole school will come to school at 11:30 and the end time will go home is 1:04.

Melanie:  1.  Working on the computer 2.  Do alot of work in the office 3.  telling the KIDS what to Do 4.  Helping at the school 5.  Make the childrens Happy

Alisha:  I would play games with the kids and i would buy donuts For all the kids

Janelle:  If I was the Principal I would be so nice to the students and make more fieldtrips and make them have less homework.  More Pro-D days and less school!  That would make life much easier.

Bases Students Speak

This Friday for Journals we asked the students to tell us what they love about school and what they are looking forward to in BASES this year.  Here is what they had to say:

Caitlin:  I like riding on the bus

Melanie:  I like playing on the computer.  Working on math and talking to my friends, reading books and playing some games

Raheel:  I am looking forward to Thursday cooking days in BASES because I want to learn how to cook, I like to cook, I like to cook ice cream desserts

Janelle:  I would like to do more outside stuff and more Math.  I want to start cooking on Thursdays and going shopping for stuff.  I'm looking forward to the AIM games in May.  I can't wait for the fun field trips.  I'm also looking forward to the dance thing that we have every year.  I like how we do the program on Tuesday in 3rd block.

Jeena:  The best memory so far in BASES is having a great time with the teachers, classmates and friends.  My second favourite memory is laughing with Ms. Fuller.  She's very full and the bestest teacher in the whole wide universe.  I love you Ms. Fuller
